These boards are cute all on their own, but when painted, they’re even cuter! I purchased these boards from a company called, Signology. Great people, look them up.
The American Flag means a great deal to everyone, our great country displays this beauty! I’m here today to add some fun to.
With a little paint and imagination, these two pieces are perfect for displaying in your home or on your porch!
Painting Fun Wood Boards

I started with the heart, painting the red sections. Then I moved to the gnome and painted that red section. Then the blue…and the stars. Whichever paint color I was using, I did both pieces. Saves time and makes sense to do all at once. Look how cute they are already!

Painting Fun Flag Boards

I made a stencil with my Cricut cutter with transparency sheets. It’s a quick and easy task if you don’t have a star stencil. The sheets come with plenty in the pack, so you could toss the stencil after use or keep for another project. I used a very sticky mat for my cutting, so part of it ripped. 🙄 So I tossed mine after use.
I used my Dixie Belle Paint for these boards. Believe me when I say this paint gives great coverage, I only used one coat on both and also did a light sanding to distress the edges. They look great!
My Dixie Belle products:
- Barn Red Chalk Mineral Paint
- In The Navy Chalk Mineral Paint
- Fluff Chalk Mineral Paint
- Clear Coat – Flat
- VooDoo Gel Stain – Au Natural
My brush is always damp while using the chalk mineral paint. I use my misting bottle as I go along to avoid my brush dragging and to spread my paint easily.
A misting bottle is your loyal friend when painting with chalk mineral paint. You can purchase one here.
I used the VooDoo Gel Stain for the nose. It’s the new Au Natual color and was perfect for the nose.

As I did my stars, I used my heat gun to dry them quickly to move onto the finish. They came out great, imperfect and once sanded slightly, prefect!

See how easy it all can be! Painting is fun and releives stress, so have at it and enjoy! You can paint anything, make your own patterns on pieces with painters tape, use stencils. You could even make a stencil from craft paper and use one time. Anything is possible!
These boards were very popular in my store/booth. Use them anywhere in your home all-year-round.

I hope you liked this tutorial, of sorts. 😊
Let me know what you think of these cute flag boards! I welcome all comments.
Do it with purpose!
